Adam Daniel "Bull"
Dillman
September 1, 1937 – May 26, 2026
Adam Daniel "Bull" Dillman, age 88, passed away peacefully of natural causes and complications from a recent fall on May 26, 2026, at UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital in The Villages, Florida.
Born on September 1, 1937, in Louisville, Kentucky, Adam grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep sense of duty. After graduating from Flaget High School, he balanced serving his country as a member of the Kentucky Army National Guard alongside the beginning of what would become a lifelong dedication to the building trades.
Affectionately known to everyone as "Bull"—a nickname given to him by his brother when he was just a baby—Adam lived up to the name, carrying a sense of strength, resilience, and presence throughout his life. He enjoyed a long and successful career as a commercial mason, leaving a tangible legacy in the structures he helped build. He was a proud member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 4 union. Later in life, Adam brought his strong spirit to The Villages, Florida, where he enjoyed his retirement and spent many happy days out on the golf course.
While he built a career out of brick and mortar, Adam built his life around people. He was a passionate cook who loved nothing more than bringing people together, frequently preparing fabulous meals for his large family, neighbors, and friends. He was also a legendary prankster with a sharp sense of humor; everyone who knew him has a favorite story about a joke he played or a laugh they shared. Adam welcomed everyone into his circle with warmth, hospitality, and mischief.
Adam is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 27 years, Zoa Ann Vandiver, whom he married on October 2, 1999.
He leaves behind his four children from his first marriage: John Adam Dillman (Tara), Judy Ann Allgeier (Steve), Theresa Lynn Washburn (Chad), and Carol Rose Brown (James); and Zoa’s three children, whom he embraced as his own: Karen Lynn Nicholas Foster (Jaime), Jon Oren Nicholas, Jr. (Denise), and Linda Ann Nicholas Payne (Howard). He is also survived by his brother, John Dillman (Joyce). Together, Adam and Zoa shared a massive, blended family that includes 26 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
Adam was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Margaret "Peggy" Sue Raque Dillman; his parents, Amelia Boehnlein Dillman and Jacob W. Dillman; and four brothers and four sisters, leaving his brother John as the last of their ten siblings.
Adam was a pillar of strength, warmth, and laughter, and his memory will live on in the generations and communities he helped shape, build, and feed.
