Obituary

Aldrich Constantino Madrazo passed away suddenly on January 2, 2024, in Daytona Beach Florida at just 41 years old due to complications of the heart.

Born to his parents Angela Constantino Madrazo and Jaime Madrazo on June 1, 1982, in Queens NY, he was raised in the Philippines with his 4 siblings. A loving brother and son, his Mom Angela knew very early on the kind of person Aldrich would turn out to be.

She shared two of her favorite memories of him growing up.

When Aldrich and all his siblings came to my office at the Central Bank of the Philippines, he would kiss all of my officemates. And guess what? He had a big sum of money in his hands when he finished. My officemates called him the kissing bandit. He was only 6 yrs old then.

During his elementary days, one day he came home after school without his bag and books, all his school stuff was missing. He told me he gave it all to a boy who had nothing because he felt sorry for the boy. I got so mad! But on the other hand, I appreciated how soft his heart is. Even as a child he would give you the shirt off his back if he thought you needed it more. He was always like this, up until the day he died.

Aldrich, or Mad Dog as his friends better knew him, set out at 18 to begin conquering the world. He returned to New York and began working as a doorman and security guard for those first few years, having a blast exploring NYC as a young man with his whole future ahead of him.

Aldrich was warm, affectionate, and charismatic, so it came as no surprise that he made friends everywhere he went. In 2004, this very proud and patriotic Filipino American joined the Marines, starting his training at Camp Lejeune before going to Iraq on his first deployment. From 2004-2008 he served the US proudly and became a decorated Marine, earning a Purple Heart during Operation Enduring Freedom, a good conduct medal, amongst others, along with his Sharpshooter and Marksman badges.

Aldrich was always a bright spark in the conversation, and always had a smile out of the blue for anyone who needed it. He loved connecting with other Veterans and was happiest helping them (or anyone really) in any way he could. If you asked him, Al would tell you he was rich in favors and rich in friends, and he believed in focusing hard on the positive side of any situation.

Recently he was staying at a place directly on the beach and loved getting up at 5:30 am and going for a walk in the warm Florida sand and calling his Mom just to catch up. It was his favorite moment of the day, walking past the waves and talking to his family. Whenever he could, you could find him attending Sunday Service at Calvary Christian Center in Ormond Beach and if he couldn't go in person, he would watch it online just so he didn't miss any part of it.

He mastered the art of cooking the poor man's ramen (that's what he called it anyways) in a microwave but give him a stove and a few ingredients and he was a great cook. He loved mixing every flavor you can imagine together, usually with great results. Some of his favorite adobo experiments struck fear in the heart of his girlfriend Heather, who was clearly less adventurous than him, but she tried every single one. When he could get her to enjoy something she had never tried before, his chest would puff up with pride and he couldn't wait to say, "I told you it was good!"

Aldrich loved to sing, so much so that he carried a Bluetooth speaker and a karaoke microphone almost everywhere. His girlfriend swore those speakers were multiplying when the first mini speaker appeared, and then one a little bit bigger, and then one a bit bigger than the last two…

If Al was with you, you might as well give in to the inevitable and let Mad Dog Madrazo play DJ because he had great taste in music. He was going to take over that playlist whether you were planning on letting him or not. If you didn't know how much he loved to sing, Al wore out his last karaoke microphone so badly he had just replaced it as a Christmas gift to himself, he had so many more songs to sing. Classic rock, pop, country, you name it Al would sing it.

If he'd had more time and knew his fate, we don't doubt he would have built himself a bionic heart, just like Iron Man. He loved building robots when he was in school and often talked about how he should have been an engineer.

He was predeceased by his father Jaime and his sister Rhoanne Christie Cruz and his beloved dog Bella. He is survived by his mother Angela Madrazo, siblings Jameson Madrazo, Mary Grace Madrazo, Rainier Jam Madrazo, and Princess Althea Madrazo from Mabalacat City Philippines. Al will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and loved ones all across the world.

A memorial service will be held at Calvary Christian Center at the Ballard Chapel 1687 W Granada Blvd Ormond Beach, Florida on Tuesday February 13, 2024, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. We are honored to have Pastor Michael Lewis perform his service as a close personal friend.
