Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Alfred Charles Freem, Jr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, who departed this life on April 15, 2026, at the age of 89.

Born on June 18, 1936, to Alfred and Mary (McCullough) Freem. He was the eldest of four children, growing up alongside his siblings Josephine, Peter, and MaryFran. He carried the values of family, responsibility, and dedication with him throughout his life.

He graduated from East Orange High School in New Jersey in 1954 and proudly served his country in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge in 1956. In 1959, he married the love of his life, Frances (Kulsziski), beginning a lifelong partnership filled with devotion and enduring love.

He built a long and successful career with NJ Bell, where he worked for 37 years before retiring. In retirement, he embraced the things he loved most—especially spending time on the golf course. As a longtime member of Sugar Mill Country Club for nearly 30 years, he was known as an avid golfer and proudly achieved three holes-in-one over the years.

He cherished life’s simple pleasures, whether enjoying his favorite “big boy” drink, relaxing with a cigar, or sharing stories and laughter with family and friends.

Above all, he was a devoted family man. He is lovingly remembered by his children, Alfred III (Suzy) and Marianne (Brian), and his cherished grandchildren, Mia, Lila, Daniel and Griffin, who brought him immense pride and joy.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
