Alfred Russell Roberson Jr., 67, passed away on February 5, 2026. Born on June 11, 1958, in Hawkinsville, Georgia, to Alfred Russell Roberson Sr. and Joyce Dowdy, Alfred’s life was defined by service to his country and devotion to his family.
A Legacy of Service
Alfred served with distinction in the United States Army for over 20 years. As a master sergeant in the military police, his career was marked by numerous high-level accomplishments and honors including the Meritorious Service Medal (5th award), the Army Commendation Medal (2nd award), and the Army Achievement Medal (4th award), among others. His expertise was further recognized through several expert marksmanship badges and his completion of the first sergeant course.
Life and Family
After retirement from the Army, Alfred settled down in Florida, where he raised his children and built lasting memories. Known for his sharp wit, great sense of humor, and a storyteller's heart, he loved sharing the many adventures he encountered during his years of service.
He is survived by his mother, Joyce Rowe, his sister, Regina Coffee, both of Sumter, SC; his stepfather, Larry Broughton of Holly Hill, FL; and his beloved children: Michelle Roberson (Chris Kuehl), Joyce Slone (Jayson Slone), and David Roberson. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss him dearly.
Alfred’s presence will be deeply missed by the family and friends who were fortunate enough to know his kindness and hear his stories.
