IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Aline
Mcquade
September 20, 1930 – February 6, 2025
Aline Longino McQuade, 94, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025 at Tidewell Hospice House in Bradenton, Florida. Born on September 20, 1930 in Jackson, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Mack Buckley and Aline (Smith) Longino and granddaughter of Andrew Houston Longino, Governor of Mississippi from 1900-1904.
Her family moved from Jackson to New Orleans in 1942 during the Second World War. Her father had served as an artillery officer in the First World War, and was called back into the service, with a rank of Major, to help oversee logistics for the Army at the port of New Orleans. After the war, Aline attended and graduated from Sophie Newcombe college at Tulane University and obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree; moving to Miami shortly thereafter to work for Eastern Airlines. It was there that she met her ex-husband Edgar McQuade Jr. and married in 1954. After several moves, they settled in Ft. Lauderdale Florida and opened E. A. McQuade travel agency in 1959. Together they grew the business into both a successful retail agency and large wholesale tour operator during the 1960s, with offices in Ft. Lauderdale, Chicago and New York. The retail travel agency was sold during the 1970s, but Aline continued to operate it for several ownership groups as the Executive Vice President until her retirement. She also held various held leadership positions with the Executive Association of Ft. Lauderdale and the American Society of Travel Agents while a member of both organizations.
Aline loved to travel and literally saw most of the world through her long career in the industry; visiting all of the European countries, Russia, China, Japan, Australia and Africa to name a few of her destinations. She was an avid reader, oftentimes consuming 3-4 books each week. She loved animals, always having a dog, cat, or both in her home, and was a regular financial supporter of the Humane Society. The most favorite trip of her lifetime was a photographic safari to Tanzania and Kenya in Africa to see the wild game reserves there.
Aline is survived by her son Andrew (Drew) McQuade and his wife Sandra, her daughter-in-law Flora McQuade and her four grandchildren, Stefanie McQuade Barsema, Jessica McQuade Carn, Alexander McQuade and Jordan McQuade. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Henry Maloney, and her older son Edgar (Skip) McQuade III.
Memorial services will be private for the family only. Shortly following, her ashes will be taken to Fort Lauderdale Florida for final placement with her beloved mother's remains at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens.
