A goodbye to Allan Saar

Allan Saar of New Smyrna Beach passed from us on November 4, 2020. Allan left this life as he lived it, with quiet dignity and strength leaving an enduring legacy of love and treasured memories. This good and decent man is survived by Cathy Lee Saar, his wife and cherished companion of forty years. She was and for eternity will be the love of his life and his best friend.

Allan was born the youngest of a family of 9 brothers and sisters and was raised in a Florida of long ago, often reminding us that he was a true native son who so loved Florida's exquisite beauty and warm southern charm. He was patriot – a Veteran of the United States Army – and he served his country during difficult times with unselfish sacrifice and honor. Later, Allan became an accomplished and highly skilled telecommunication technician. For over four decades, his creativity and dedication earned him the highest respect and admiration from coworkers, senior management and, most particularly, the thousands of customers who so often needed his help.

Retirement found Allan spending more time with his bride and his precocious buddies, Eddy and Joey. He also found time to become a highly competitive and accomplished local tennis player with more than his share of victories.

But Allan's true joy and his greatest accomplishments came from the simple and quiet enjoyment of everyday life, far from the spotlight, seeking neither recognition nor affirmation. His was a life guided by his own, true compass, always pointing the way to the love, respect and support for his wife, his family and his friends. Allan left us with the simple elegance and quiet strength of a good man gently slipping away, leaving us with our treasured memories and the certain truth that a good man loved us.
