Obituary

Alvaro Luis Maldonado, 75, of Orlando, Florida, passed away peacefully on November 20th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on May 1st, 1949, in Santurce, Puerto Rico, Alvaro lived a full and vibrant life, leaving a legacy of kindness, humility, and joy.

Alvaro attended the Recinto Universitario de Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, where he pursued higher education before embarking on a remarkable career. He worked at Union Carbide and Carolina Shipping before dedicating 25 years to Disney as a concierge at the Contemporary Resort, where he brought smiles and unforgettable experiences to countless visitors.

Beyond his career, Alvaro's passion for music was central to his life. A professional musician with perfect pitch, he shared his talents as a saxophonist, often playing for his church and collecting saxophone figurines as a tribute to his craft. A devoted sports fan, he enjoyed football, passionately supporting the Jacksonville Jaguars, and baseball, cheering on the New York Yankees.

Alvaro was a storyteller at heart, known for his compassionate and caring nature. His humble and friendly demeanor endeared him to everyone he met, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mercedes Corcino and Alvaro Maldonado. Alvaro is survived by his beloved wife, Blanca Maldonado, his sons Alejandro Maldonado, Carlo Maldonado, and Pierre Maldonado, his daughters Magali Mercedes Maldonado, Tamara Maldonado-Rauscher, and Angelica Maldonado DeWees, as well as 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride.

A church service will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Thursday, December 12th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., located at 5900 Oleander Drive, Orlando, FL 32807. A funeral service will follow at Jacksonville Memory Gardens, 111 Blanding Blvd, Orange Park, FL 32073, on Friday, December 13th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m.

Alvaro's kindness, music, and love will forever remain in our hearts.
