Mr. Alvin E. Beasley Jr., "Ed" died in the West Marion County Regional Hospital in Ocala FL on 25 January, at the age of 72. He is survived by his wife Bonnie, his brother Dick, his sons Jason and Garrett, his step-son Jerry and his Grandchildren Hayden, Sabrina and Savannah.

Ed was born on 2 August, 1946 in Newport News, Va. to Marion Beasley and Alvin Edward Beasley. He graduated from Newport News High School in 1964. Ed was a veteran and served two tours in Vietnam, where he earned several medals, including the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Meritorious Service Medal, he left the U.S. Army as a Major in 1987.

Ed was very proud of his membership in the Benevolent Protective Order of the Elks, he was an officer for many years and served as the Exalted Ruler from April 2003 through March 2004.

He was equally proud of his Masonic affiliations in Panama. Being a member of Sojourners Masonic Lodge, of Abou Saad Shriners, a 32° K nights C ommander of the C ourt H onor in the Scottish Rite, and a Past Director of the Royal Order of Jesters, Panama Canal Court # 18.

Per Ed's wishes, his body was cremated and his ashes will be spread in the Panama Canal. He spent the majority of his life in Panama and wanted this to be his final resting place. The family is grateful for the condolences, but declines flowers and donations.
