Amy Louisa Hickson Ostrander, 86, of Fort Myers, Florida, received her heavenly wings on October 11, 2021 with her family at her side at Hope Hospice.

Amy was born on March 8, 1935 in Saint Petersburg, Florida to William and Ruth (Smith) Hickson. She lived in St. Pete until moving to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1964. Following her retirement, she moved to Franklin,  North Carolina and then moved to Fort Myers, Florida in 1995.

Amy was a single mother since 1963. She worked hard, going to night school to get her secretarial certification. She was employed by Broward County government, climbing a difficult ladder for women in that time period. By the time she retired in 1981, she was the executive and recording secretary for the Broward County Board of County Commisioners. She bought her first home in 1969, a rarity for women at that time.

Amy loved to travel, or as we call it in the family, "meander". She visited all fifty states, Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. She was quite active in the Loyal Order of Women of the Moose Tice-Shores Lodge #1297, where she met so many friends. She loved jigsaw and crossword puzzles.She loved being with her family and was always ready to have fun.

Amy leaves behind, her daughter Robin Miller (Max), her three grandchildren Shannon Williams (Ron), Melanie Meiser and Brittany Meiser. She also leaves her six great-grandchildren, Victoria, Samantha (Johnny), Austin, Travis, Cayden and Jorden, She was pre-deceased by her son, Christopher Smith, her husband, Donald Marion Ostrander, and two brothers, Harold and Donald Hickson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 20 at the Tice-Shores Moose Lodge #1297 located at 11161 Palm Beach Bouelard, Fort Myers, Florida, 33905 at 4 pm. Arrangements are under the direction of Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home.
