Obituary

Andres “Andy” Rocafort, age 81, was a Patriot, beloved husband, father, and friend.

He passed away peacefully at his home in Ocala, FL, on April 6, 2026, after an extended illness.

Born on January 30, 1945, in New York City, NY, to the late Hector Rocafort and Olga Rocafort, he was the husband of Colleen (Hart) Rocafort for 38 years.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Colleen (Hart) Rocafort; his son Andrew Rocafort and his wife Donna Carter Handley of Fairfax, VA; his older brother Hector Rocafort and sister-in-law Diana Rocafort of Ocala, FL; and his younger brother Jaime Rocafort and sister-in-law Meriem Rocafort of Parrish, FL; and their families.

He was a 1962 graduate of Central Commercial High School, New York City, NY.

Andy volunteered in the U.S. Army in 1964; he was 19 years old. He trained as a Communications Electronic Intelligence Collection Operative in the Army’s Security Agency (ASA). Andy is a Vietnam Veteran. He served as a Sergeant in the US Army Security Agency from June 1964 to August 1968. Andy served one combat tour in Korea and two combat tours in Vietnam. He left Vietnam and the U.S. Army in August of 1968. He continued his civilian career in Telecommunications and teaching.

Andy was selected and participated in the Villages Honor Flight for Veterans -Mission #58 to Washington DC from Sanford, FL on April 19th, 2023.

Over the span of his distinguished career, he worked at First Fidelity Bank, N.A, New Jersey, Honeywell, and Warner Lambert Company in Telecommunications. Sold real estate in Montville, NJ, and was an Alderman for the town of Boonton-Montville, NJ.

Andy is a 32-degree Master Mason of La Universal Lodge No. 751, NYC and recognized for having completed 50 years of loyal support and dedication to the Masonic Fraternity from their Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of the state of New York in April 2021.

He has received numerous service awards from the Lions Club of Boonton, NJ for 25 years of service; Triad Job Search Network, High Point, NC from 2001-2006.

Andy and Colleen moved to On Top of the World Retirement Community in June 2006.

He enjoyed meeting people and offering help & advice as well as bringing joy and laughter to their lives. He founded the Retired Old Men Eating Out (R.O.M.E.O) club in 2006; and could be found at the OTOW Recreation Center Pool every day, Bingo every week, and Publix Canopy Oaks chasing his dream of winning the lottery. He also enjoyed traveling with Colleen to “All Inclusive” resorts with a casino.
