Angel Peñafiel was born in Quito, Ecuador, on February 8, 1955, to Miguel Antonio Peñafiel and Isabel Bárbara Arauz Mendoza.
Angelito was a man defined by strength, confidence, and unwavering devotion to his family. Protective by nature, he carried himself with presence and boldness—the kind of person everyone noticed and admired. His personality was strong and decisive; he met challenges with persistence, even in moments of frustration. Yet beneath that toughness was a deep tenderness, expressed through his actions and quiet presence. Family was always at the heart of his life, and he stood by his loved ones no matter what, always wanting the very best for them.
He arrived in New York City in September 1982, soon followed by his soon to be wife, Elena, who joined him that December. The two were married in January 1983, beginning a partnership that spanned 43 years. A skilled and hardworking plumber, Angel built his career in New York City before retiring. In April 2022, he and Elena settled in Palm Coast, Florida, where they enjoyed a new chapter together.
Angelito enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: he loved playing soccer, exploring coastal areas, and singing karaoke to his favorite Latin ballads. He took great pride in the life he built and lived unapologetically as himself—confident in his opinions, true to his values, and deeply loyal to those he loved.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Elena Peñafiel, and their three children, Miguel, Edward, and Angelica, who will carry forward his strength, love, and spirit in all they do.
A Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, with Funeral Service at 3:30 PM, Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Baldwin Brothers Ormond Beach Chapel, 1185. W. Granada Blvd. #11, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.
