Ann W. Tucker

October 15, 1932 – June 14, 2020

Laura ANN Wilson Tucker , 87, of Orlando, Florida, passed away on June 14, 2020. Her husband of 58 years, Robert ("BOB") Tucker, Jr. preceded her in death on January 25, 2012.

Ann graduated from Bessemer High School in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1951. In 1953 she married her high school sweetheart, and supported him as he completed his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Electrical Engineering at North Carolina State University. She and her husband moved to Orlando, Florida in 1957 for Bob to begin his career at Martin Marietta. During her younger years, Ann worked as an insurance secretary and later for Martin Marietta. Several years after moving to Orlando, she and her husband became interested in drag racing; both became well known for winning, traveling almost every weekend to race throughout the state of Florida and neighboring states. Ann made history winning races as a female driver. Her younger brother, Richard traveled from North Carolina every summer during his adolescent years, and cheered their racing team to repeated victories. This passion for racing led to Bob opening his own high performance specialty shop building racing engines and cars for others, and Ann worked with him in this business. In later years, after becoming active in the Condo Association where she and her husband owned and lived, Ann became the Association President, and then the licensed manager for over 20 years. During this same time period, she was also the manager in an adjoining Condo Association for 15 years.

Ann and her husband never had children; she is survived by two younger brothers in Greensboro, North Carolina, Wayne Wilson and wife Anita, and Richard Wilson and wife Libby. In accordance with Ann's wishes, her remains and those of her husband, have returned home to North Carolina, where there will be a private family service.
