Anna Rose "Ann" Grealis, (nee Pfeiffer) died peacefully of cardiac failure at her home in Edgewater, Florida, on November 27, 2019 at the age of 88.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent. She is survived by her children Gary & Joan Grealis of Walnut Creek, California; Susan Vincent of Edgewater, Florida; Dian & David Stein of Hillsborough, New Jersey; and Tim & Holly Grealis of Hendersonville, Tennessee; her beloved grandchildren Sky Chari, Aslan Grealis, Michael Stein and Allison Stein; her brother John Pfeiffer of Somerset, New Jersey; her sister Helen London of Senoia, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
Ann was born on March 8, 1931 in Highland Park, New Jersey to Anna (Bognar) and Frank Pfeiffer. She lived most of her life in central New Jersey, retiring from Rutgers University in 1986 then moving to Edgewater, Florida in 1992. As a resident of the Edgewater Landing community, Ann was active on the HOA Board and involved in activities such as playing bocce, playing cards, calling at bingo, women's club and adding her sweet tenor voice to the chorus, of which she was a founding member. Over the years she held various volunteer positions at the St. Vincent De Paul Society, the New Smyrna Beach Area Visitors Bureau, and the Halifax Health Hospice Care Center. She was also a dedicated communicant of St. Gerard's Mission Church, where she would often lend her voice to the readings during mass. Ann was an accomplished seamstress who was well known for the beautiful handbags she made and sold under her distinctive "Annie Gee" brand. A mass in her memory will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gerard's Church, 3171 South Ridgewood Avenue, Edgewater, Florida. This service, which is open to all, will be followed by a Celebration of Life at the clubhouse in Edgewater Landing. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Halifax Hospice or St. Vincent de Paul Society.
