IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Anthony Davontz Edward
Ames
December 11, 1967 – March 15, 2026
Obituary for Tony Ames
Anthony Davontz Edward Ames, born in Norwich, England, and of Port Charlotte, Florida, passed away surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and generosity.
Anthony was a man who lived with heart, humor, and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Anthony was well-known in the restaurant community as a dedicated general manager and a true master of his craft. Cooking was more than a profession for him; it was an art and a passion. As a talented chef and food connoisseur, Anthony took great pride in bringing people together through food, conversation, music, and laughter. Those who worked with him admired his leadership, creativity, and unwavering work ethic.
Outside of the kitchen, Anthony found joy in fishing, listening to the music of the 1970s and 1980s, and spending time with the people he loved. He had a deep appreciation for good meals, great music, and meaningful connections.
Anthony was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation, always willing to help someone in need. Anthony will be remembered for his resilient spirit, generous heart, and the way he loved others. His kindness left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him. Even in passing, Anthony’s compassion continued to shine. Through the gift of organ and tissue donation, two individuals will receive the precious gift of sight. An extraordinary act of generosity that reflects the giving nature he carried throughout his life.
Anthony’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, and all whose lives he touched. His warmth, laughter, and love will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his loving mother, Gwendoline Pearl Ames, and was predeceased by his father, Davontz Lawrence Conway Ames.
He leaves behind his beloved children, Austin James Weeks (Santana Marie Weeks), Derek Davontz Michael Ames (Kira Millard), and Nicholas Anthony Davontz Ames (Xiurui Lu). He was also a grandfather to Paisley Wagoner, Bruin Michael Weeks, and Boston Wayne Weeks.
He is also survived by his sisters, Mrs. Sonja (Joseph) Davis, Mrs. Angelique (Keith) Payne, Ms. Julie Liccione, and Mrs. Shiree (Lawrence) Goins, with whom he shared a bond of love and family.
