Obituary

Anthony Caruso of the Villages passed away peacefully from his from his life on Tuesday April 8, 2014. Born in Stamford,CT he was the son of the late Thomas and Marion Caruso. Anthony served six years in the army and worked in construction the majority of his life and was the business manager of Laborers Local 449 Stamford, CT for many years before retiring from there. Anthony moved to the Villages five years ago from Sunrise Florida with his loving wife of 49 years. Anthony was a member of Saint Theresa Church in Belleview, FL. One of Anthony's favorite pastimes was playing Petanque, he was a member of the Petanque Family club as well as a member of the American Legion Post 347 of Lady Lake, The Italian American Club and the Paisans Club. Anthony enjoyed traveling, golfing, swimming, dancing, playing bocce and and was a true die hard NY Yankee baseball fan. Anthony loved to live life to the fullest. Anthony was a caring, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and leaves behind Nancy Caruso his loving wife of 49 years, daughter Cheryl Eckert, son Donald Caruso, daughter Gina Caruso(predeceased), and five grandchildren Matthew Eckert, Brendan Eckert, Margaret Monahan, Meghan Monahan and Edward Monahan (predeceased). He is also survived by two brothers Joseph and Thomas Caruso and their wives Katherine and Angela Caruso and was predeceased by his brother Felix Caruso. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews of CT and Massachusetts. Anthony was selfless always willing to lend a hand to those he loved. He was true friend to many and a true family man, always putting his family and their needs before his own, his family was always his number one priority. Anthony touched many lives and was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him, he will be sadly missed but he will always be within us with his spirit, his laughter and love and will forever remain in our hearts. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to St.Theresa's soup kitchen, 11528 SE US Highway 301 Belleview, FL 3420-4430 or Hospice of Marion County, PO Box 4860 Ocala, FL 34478-4860. A funeral mass will be held at Saint Theresa's Catholic Church, 11528 US 301, Belleview on April 16th at 11:00 A.M.
