Anthony
Mccarthy
November 29, 1933 – June 12, 2022
Anthony McCarthy, 88, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2022 after a brief illness.
Better known as Tony, he was born in Baltimore, Maryland to Anna (nee Macek) and Ernest McCarthy on November 29, 1933. He resided in Baltimore until the age of 17 when he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Tony was a dedicated Company Clerk, served during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. His diligence earned him the ranking of Master Sergeant and a personal commendation by President Richard Nixon. He proudly served our Country until the year of 1974.
Tony is predeceased by the love of his life, Ruthanne McCarthy and his son, Michael. He is survived by his daughter Teri (Fred), son Tony (Sharon) and daughter Pam. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; Sara (Dru), Emily (Alex), Jacob, Mandi (Henry), Ashley (Jason), Angie (Ryan), Gabriel, Julia and Alyssa and numerous great grandchildren.
After retiring from the Air Force, Tony started "Anthony's Seafood" on Route 73 in Lakehurst, NJ in 1978. Tony was known for his delicious crab cakes and clam chowder recipes which he often made at the AMVETS Fish Frys. He also made his specialty dishes for the "McCarthy Family Reunions" he held at his home every August. Tony was also known to throw one hell of a game of "shoes" whilst holding a Miller Light, country music playing in the background.
In the late 1990's, Tony and Ruthanne relocated to Daytona Beach to retire in the sun.
Tony will be greatly missed by his extensive family and friends, especially Amelia Amodeo and Jack Waters.
Services will be private but condolences may be left online or mailed to P.O. Box 217, Oceanville, NJ 08231.
