IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Antoinette “Netta”
Albanese
May 21, 1929 – March 19, 2023
Antoinette "Netta" Albanese (nee DeMaio), 93, of Palm Coast, FL, passed away peacefully on March 19th, 2023.
Netta was born on May 21, 1929, in Newark, NJ to Albertina and Gaetano DeMaio. She grew up in Newark with her 5 siblings: Thomas, Raymond, Vincent, Adele and Emily, all of whom predeceased her.
It was in her neighborhood in the 1st ward where she met the love of her life, Anthony "Tony" Albanese. They married on May 23, 1954, at Saint Lucy's Basilica in Newark. They ultimately settled in Cranford, NJ in 1962 with their three children, where they lived for more than 30 years. After Tony passed in 1988, Netta continued to live in Cranford until eventually moving to assisted living in Wyckoff, NJ, and later to Palm Coast, Florida to be near her children.
Netta left her career behind at Prudential to dedicate her life to raising her three children, Anthony, Dino, and Jodi. She later joined NJ Bell in Cranford NJ until her retirement in 1989.
Netta is survived by son Anthony, his wife Kathy, son Dino and his wife Stephanie, and daughter Jodi with her husband Kevin. Netta's grandchildren, Christina, Michael, Matthew and Stephen were the great joys of her life who further blessed her with 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She cherished her family and took immense pleasure in preserving tradition and a family bond admired by so many others. Always a trusted advisor, Netta was just a phone call away with a compassionate ear for listening, broad shoulders for support, and a sharp mind for sharing her life experiences with those who sought her guidance. She will be tremendously missed by family and friends alike.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday April 24, at 10:30 AM at St. Michael's RC Church in Cranford, NJ. Entombment will follow at Graceland Memorial Park in Kenilworth, NJ
In lieu of flowers, feel free to make a donation to Catholic Charities in Antoinette's memory.
