With profound sadness and endless love, we announce the passing of Arlen Lavan Wood Sr. on Friday, July 17, 2026.

Born in Augusta, Georgia, Arlen was a man whose hands could build just about anything, but whose greatest accomplishment was the life he built with the people he loved. He was a devoted husband, an incredible father, a proud grandfather, and a loyal friend whose kindness, wisdom, and generosity touched countless lives.

Arlen loved spending time on the water fishing, and if something needed to be built or repaired, he was the one everyone called. He had a remarkable gift for creating things with his hands and took great pride in every project he tackled. One of his greatest accomplishments was designing, building, and operating his own food cart business for more than ten years. It wasn't just a business.. it was a reflection of his determination, creativity, and hardworking spirit.

More than anything, Arlen loved his family. He was the steady presence who taught his children not only how to work hard and solve problems, but also how to treat people with kindness, respect, and compassion. He believed beauty was found in a person's heart and character, and he lived that belief every day.

He leaves behind the love of his life, his devoted wife, Debbie Wood; his children, Ashley Balbin (Dave), Arlen Wood Jr. (Riley), and Sheri Wood Cardinali (Cliff); and his cherished grandchildren, Stratton, Cody, Garrett, Bella, and Benny, who brought him endless pride and joy.

To know Arlen was to know a man who would always lend a hand, share what he knew, and make you feel like family. His quiet strength, gentle heart, and unwavering love will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Though our hearts are broken, we are incredibly grateful for the years, memories, and lessons he gave us. His legacy will live on through the family he adored, the lives he touched, and the values he instilled in all of us.

We love you, Dad. Thank you for every lesson, every sacrifice, every laugh, and every moment of unconditional love. We will carry your memory with us always, and we find comfort knowing that the love you gave us will never fade.
