Obituary

Arthur James Harrington was the second son and middle child of George W. and Ann Harrington of North Lake, Wisconsin. Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin April 14, 1937. Jim grew up on North Lake, Wisconsin. He became an avid fisherman, sailor, hunter and lover of the great outdoors. He graduated from Notre Dame University in 1959. 

Jim was married to Shirley Walters for 43 years until her death from a lengthy illness. During that time they traveled throughout North America and Europe and built a cabin in the mountains of Colorado as a weekend retreat. His career in sales and sales management in the major appliance industry found them living in California, Arizona, Colorado, Portland and Georgia at different times. 

Jim retired in Florida and married his childhood sweetheart Pat Luljack and they spent many very happy active years together in Bradenton before Jim’s passing. Jim will be remembered for his lrish wit, his contagious smile, love of fishing, love for the great outdoors, passion for his painting artwork and his positive outlook on life. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, George W. Harrington Jr. 

Jim is survived by his sister, Sue Harrington Bird, and an array of nieces and nephews, Denise Harrington, George W. Harrington the III, Holly Harrington, Laura Workman, the late James W. Bird, Cindy Leedom, Craig Judge, Sean Judge. Jim was a loving and supportive brother to Sue throughout their lives. 

He was lovingly cared for during his final year by his nephew, Mark Judge, and Mark’s wife, Debi. 

Services will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery on October 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM
