Arthur Paul Woodman, lovingly known as Paul, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of service, brotherhood, and devotion to family and community.
Born in July 1949 in Exeter, New Hampshire, Paul moved with his family to Sarasota, Florida, in 1957. He graduated from Riverview High School in 1967, and proudly served as a sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1972.
Paul dedicated his career to Sarasota’s Country Store Interiors for over 40 years. Known for his exceptional attention to detail, he took pride in helping Sarasota homeowners bring beauty and refinement to their homes with expertly installed window treatments and fine textiles.
Paul was deeply committed to the Masonic brotherhood. He became a member of Sarasota Masonic Lodge #147 in 2002, and served as President of the Motor Corps beginning in 2005, a role that perfectly combined his love for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and fellowship. He organized countless social events, parades, and fundraisers. In 2008, he co-founded the Knights of the Eagles chapter of Widows Sons, serving as Vice President, President, and later on the Board of Directors. His leadership supported many charitable causes, including the Masonic Home of Florida, Scottish Rite Masonic Center of Tampa, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and Southeastern Guide Dogs. And in 2013, Paul served as President of the Sarasota Scottish Rite Club. For Paul, the Masonic brotherhood was more than an organization; it was a lifelong commitment to service, fellowship, and making a difference in his community.
Paul was known for his giving spirit, especially during the holidays—he took great pride in dressing as Santa Claus each year, delighting children and adults alike. He also loved bass fishing and spent countless hours on Florida’s lakes, a passion he pursued for most of his life.
In 1990, Paul married Susan Duenas Woodman. They enjoyed forging friendships with neighbors and fellow Masonic lodge members, doting on their beloved dogs, and traveling together. Sue preceded him in death in 2022. Paul was also preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Lillian Woodman, and his siblings Bruce Woodman and Jane Woodman.
He is survived by his children Paul Woodman, Jr., Michael Woodman, and Jaime Saunders; his stepson Christopher Duenas; his sister Carol Ann Winters; his grandchildren Jackson and Tillie Saunders, and Kalanimin Duenas; and his beloved dog, Aggie.
Paul passed away on January 20 with his son Michael by his side. He will be remembered for his generosity, loyalty, humor, and commitment to those he loved and served. A service will be held at Sarasota National Cemetery (9810 State Road 72) at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 27, 2026. A repass will follow the service and will be held at the Sahib Shrine (600 North Beneva Road) at noon
