Barbara Ann
Durante
October 7, 1942 – May 2, 2026
Barbara Ann Durante was called away on May 2, 2026 at the age of 83 years at the Lane Purcell Hospice House in Sumterville, FL after a brief stay. She was born Barbara Ann Telaro on Oct 7, 1942 in the Bronx, NY. She was a high school graduate from James Monroe in the Bronx. She was a driving force in many of the family owned businesses as well as a devoted wife whose warmth and grace touched everyone she met, and a guiding example of love and strength for her children, grandchildren, family, and friends
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Ralph Durante; sons Kevin (Catherine) Durante-Summerfield, FL, Joseph (Danna) Durante-Chapel Hill, NC, and Michael (Amy) Durante-Omaha, NE, nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Ann and Rudolph Telaro of Bronxville, NY.
Barbara was an avid card player who loved all types of dancing (Ballroom, Hula, Country, Swing and Tap), she had an incredible flair for design and was a real estate agent. Her love for her family was evident with her 20 years of planning family vacations and holiday gatherings where she personalized every aspect at every opportunity. She most recently took up diamond art where she also excelled and turned that into memorable gifts and future heirlooms.
There will be a private service at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Apalachicola, FL and a local service at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, Summerfield, FL on June 2, 2026 at 10:AM. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to your local Hospice.
Her beautiful spirit will live on through her family and countless heart-warming memories she has gifted us with. Even in her final days, she found ways to make us smile, laugh, and feel her light.
Her saying for when she was leaving home for a visit was “Barbie has left the building”, so for all who read this, here is one final “Barbie has left the building”. She will be greatly missed, but always with us.
