IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Barbara Jean
“Jeannie” Bruckschen
April 29, 1943 – October 31, 2022
Our precious mother, Jeannie, passed from this life into her heavenly home on October 31, 2022, at age 79.
Born April 29, 1943, in Cumberland, Ohio, she was preceded in death by parents Charles and Ida, and daughter Karen Erica.
Jeannie is survived by her daughter Kyle and son-in-law Gene Billadeau of Palm Coast, son Alex and daughter-in-law Robin Luetzow of Farmington, MN. Grandchildren Cour, Charlie, Casey, Tyler, Brent, Quinn, and Dmitri. And her precious puppy Louie who loved nothing more than to snuggle up with her.
Mom married young and left high school without graduating. But even without the benefit of a high school degree, she became a self-taught businesswoman. She went to cosmetology school and opened her own salon, then later owned and operated successful Dairy Queen restaurants in Nebraska and Wisconsin. Never one to stop learning, mom finally earned her GED in her 60s, so that she could complete training in phlebotomy.
A beach girl at heart, our mom was a brave soul who moved alone to Port Orange, FL in 2005 with only what she could pack into her car. She quickly found friends at church to welcome her and lift her up, along with the companionship of her late sister, Pearl. She loved going to Daytona Beach for long walks in the morning. After years of northern winters, mom embraced the sunshine of Florida and enjoyed sharing her love of the beach with visiting family.
Mom continued educating herself every day of her life, especially seeking the healthiest products and foods. She always wanted to try the latest cooking gadget, and we groaned (lovingly) every time a package from QVC showed up at the front door. Her love of watching cooking shows sent her searching for new recipes to try, and there was no recipe she would not tackle!
Jeannie was a wonderful mother and friend who greeted everyone with her kind, warm smile. Whatever your worries, she played Mom to everyone with motherly advice and compassion.
Mom, we will remember you always with a smile.
I cannot speak, but I can listen I cannot be seen, but I can be heard So as you stand upon a shore gazing at a beautiful sea, As you look upon a flower and admire its simplicity, Remember me
From 'Remember Me' by Margaret Mead
We would be grateful if memorials in honor of Jeannie were given to the Flagler County Humane Society, at 1 Shelter Dr, Palm Coast, FL 32137.
