Barbara Jean
Mahoney
May 22, 1937 – June 8, 2024
Barbara Jean Mahoney, 87, passed away on June 8 th , 2024 of natural causes and is now with The Lord.
Barb was born on May 22, 1937 to Albert and Thelma Crouse in Boone Iowa, the 1 st of 2 children. She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Louis, and her beloved husband, Bill.
Barbara graduated from Boone High School in 1955. She met the love of her life, Bill, at a local dance. They were married on November 27th, 1958. The young couple moved to Chicago and 3 children followed: William (1960), Michael (1962), and David (1972). Bill and Barb remained married until Bill's passing over 64 years later.
Barb worked for many years as a Registered Nurse. She worked at the hospital in Chicago where ultimately 2 of her children were born. Bill and Barb relocated to Milwaukee in 1975. Barb continued working as an RN specializing in Senior Care at Mequon Care Center and later, Lasata Nursing Home. In the early 2000's Bill and Barb moved to Florida for a well-earned retirement filled with travel, family, faith and friends.
Barb had deep faith in Christ and was always active at her local church wherever she lived. She served in the Stephan Ministry as well as becoming an ordained Deacon.
Barb was a bright light in any room she walked into. Her contagious smile and easy manner meant Barb was never wanting for friends wherever she went. She was curious and always observant about others; Barb was never shy to approach new people in the firm belief that she could befriend anyone she chose to. She cared deeply for her friends and especially her family. She was sincere, an active listener and always interested in what was going on in people's lives. Barb was the solid foundation upon which her family could thrive – She was always there to support her family in good times and in bad. She is, and will continue to be, missed by those who knew her best.
Barb is survived by her 3 sons and 4 granddaughters (Elizabeth, Sara, Eloise and Vivienne).
