Barbara Dawson McCabe, 88, Edgewater, FL died Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Hospice Care Center Edgewater.   Barbara was born in Erie, Pennsylvania. She and her husband Leo, retired to Florida in 1987 following a career of raising her children and serving as a reading specialist in the Adult Learning Center in Erie and a teacher in the School District of Erie. She earned a Bachelor's Degree from Mercyhurst College, Erie, and was certified as a reading specialist at Edinboro University. Barbara was a member of Saint Gerard's Catholic Church Edgewater and enjoyed reading, traveling, cats and playing Bridge with her friends.   She leaves to cherish her memory sons Leo McCabe, Jr of Port Orange, FL, Michael McCabe of Brevard, NC, Patrick McCabe of Winfield, IL, Kevin McCabe of Erie, PA, grandchildren Kelly Eggleston, Seth McCabe, Sean McCabe, Caitlyn McCabe, Kimberly Whitmer, Courtney Walden, Sloane Astorino, Kevin C McCabe, great grandchildren Holly Sue Eggleston, Stephanie Smith McCabe, Amber Whitmer, Delaney Walden, Elle Astorino. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, son Christopher and sister Marjorie Wild.
