In Loving Memory of Barbara Marie Murphy

It is with heavy hearts and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Barbara Murphy, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Barbara departed this life on January 5, 2024, following a life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

Barbara was born to Henry and Marie Lorenz in New York City, NY, on November 8th, 1938. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Lorenz, her mother, Marie Lorenz, her sister Dorothy Donnelly, her husband Paul Murphy, and her grandson Joshua Morningstar. Barbara is survived by her sister Marie Lorenz (John Collins) of Ocala, FL, brother George (Pamela) Lorenz of Wasilla, AK, her children Henry Murphy of Ocala, FL, daughter Carrie (Bob) Morningstar of Ocala, FL, and Paul Murphy of Owego, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Greg Gower of Ocala, FL, Justyn (Wendy) Morningstar of Ocala, FL, Ryan Murphy of Owego, NY, Erica Murphy of Miami, FL, and McKenna Murphy of Savannah, GA, along with great-grandchildren Nolan Crews, Owen Murphy, and Aylin Morningstar.

Barbara attended Athens area schools and later found employment at Sayre Lingerie, as well as other notable establishments such as IBM and ACME. Raised in the bustling city of New York, Barbara moved to Litchfield at a young age, where she laid the foundation for a beautiful life.

In 1959, Barbara married the love of her life, Paul Murphy, and together they raised three children in the scenic valley. In 2018, she embarked on a new chapter, relocating to Florida. Barbara's talents were as diverse as her interests; she was an avid gardener, a skilled artist, and a card shark extraordinaire. Her zest for life extended to her love of travel, with Hawaii holding a special place in her heart.

Family was at the center of Barbara's universe, and she reveled in making memories with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her warm heart and infectious laughter drew people close, blessing her with a wealth of friends. Notable among them were her lifetime friend Sandy Thompson, neighbor Romayne Smith, and traveling buddies Debbie and John Santulli.

Service arrangements will be held January 20th, 2024, at 4:00 P.M at Baldwin Brothers, 954 East Silver Springs Blvd Suite 200, Ocala, Florida.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Florida.

Barbara Murphy's spirit will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love that she so generously shared throughout her remarkable life.
