Benjamin Jackson Seeley, III, 74, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 7, 2020.
Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Benjamin J. and Janice (Yuhas) Seeley. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he attended the University of Scranton on the GI Bill, receiving both a Bachelor of Science in accounting and a Master's in Business Administration.
After retirement, Ben became an avid writer, penning two books: "The Other Shoulder," which won the Royal Palm Literary Award and was a William Faulkner Award semifinalist, and "The Bugle Boy," a RPLA semifinalist.
Ben was known for his adventurous spirit and sense of humor. He was a risk taker and enjoyed hosting family and social gatherings. A dedicated family man, Ben never missed a monumental moment of his children's or nieces' lives. He was fiercely protective and stood firmly for what he felt was right. He loved fishing, boating, motorcycles, sports cars, writing, traveling and being with family.
Ben is survived by his wife, Maryann Seeley, New Smyrna Beach, FL; daughter Heather Shiptoski and husband Jason of Quakertown, PA; son Jason Seeley and wife Bessie of Orlando, FL; daughter Kimberly Crain and husband Cory of New Smyrna Beach; grandchildren Jackson Shiptoski, Quakertown, PA, Harrison Seeley, Orlando, FL, and Brynn, Briar and Reid Crain, New Smyrna Beach, FL; nieces Heidi Marshall, Lancaster, PA, Dawn B Duncan, Brooklyn, NY, and Chandell Terwilliger, Corvallis, OR; and two grand nephews and nieces.
Ben is preceded in death by his sister, Sue L. Becker, and grandson Matthew Benjamin Seeley.
