Bernadette "Bernie" Ford, age 74, of Leesburg, FL, and originally from Corunna, MI, peacefully passed away at her home on Friday, January 31, 2025. Born in Flint, MI, on July 4, 1950, she was a proud member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.

Bernie's greatest joys were rooted in her family. She was married to the love of her life, Ricky A. Ford, for 50 years, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Bernie also cherished her education and proudly earned her bachelor's degree, a milestone she held dear.

In her free time, Bernie enjoyed a wide range of activities, including cooking, baking, needlepoint, crocheting, knitting, landscaping, and decorating. Her creative spirit was evident in everything she touched. She was also dedicated to giving back to her community, volunteering for the local Support Our Seniors organization and being an active member of both the Eagle and American Legion.

Above all, Bernie was known for the immeasurable love and support she gave to her family and friends. She touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion.

Bernie is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ricky A. Ford; her parents, Loren and Janet Berthume; her brother, Jeffery Berthume; and her sister, Kari Berthume.

She is survived by her son, John (Jennifer) Ford; daughter, Racheal (Lawrence) Pilot; grandchildren, Ashley (Bobby) Anderson, Mallory Barnard, Johnathon Ford, Joseph Tunnacliff, Heather Pilot (partner Jerry), Dakota Cantu, Ricki Cantu, and Zoe Cantu; and seven cherished great-grandchildren.

A memorial service celebrating Bernie's life will be scheduled at a later date. The family is grateful for the love and support they have received during this time and invites all those whose lives Bernie touched to honor her memory.
