Bernfried Otto Gaschk, 94, passed away on September 3, 2024 at his home in The Villages, FL. He was born April 5, 1930 in Datteln, Germany to the late Johann and Maria (Skda) Gaschk.
After receiving his Bachelors degree in engineering he immigrated to Canada to open his own woodworking shop. Shortly after, Philco-Ford, later known as Zenith, contacted him to come work for them in Watsontown, PA. He proudly became a US citizen once he moved to Pennsylvania. His career led him to Pennsylvania House in Lewisburg, PA until he retired. He loved tinkering around his farm, Paradise Ranch, near Muncy, PA. The cold got the best of him and he moved to The Villages, FL in 2006. Where he joyfully lived out the remainder of his life.
Bernie married the former Kay G. Keifer on December 16, 1972. Together they celebrated over 51 years of marriage.
He enjoyed designing and creating unique pieces of furniture. Most memorably known for his amazingly intricate jewelry boxes that he gifted to many friends and family. He also enjoyed watching soccer, tennis and hockey.
Surviving besides his wife Kay are 3 children: Brian Bennett and his wife Julie of Muncy, PA; Brad Bennett and his wife Stephanie of Oxford, FL; Brenda Knopp-Reynolds and her husband Miles of Muncy, PA; 7 grandchildren: Shawn Knopp, Zachary Bennett and his wife Carly, Skylar Braun, Kyle Knopp, Aaron Knopp, Gavin Bennett, and Garrett Bennett; and 3 great granddaughters: Kadence Knopp, Faith Knopp and Cecilia Bennett.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by 2 brothers and sisters-in law; Hans and Ingrid Gaschk and Fritz and Erika Gaschk; 2 sisters and brothers-in-law: Inge and Heinz Taraska and Ingrid and Friedhelm Zech and one son-in-law Craig Knopp.
Services will be held privately by the family.
