Bert E. Corey, 85, passed away at home in The Villages, Florida. on April 16, 2025, in the arms of his beloved wife Heidi. Born on March 27, 1940, in Framingham, Massachusetts to Bruce Lee Corey and Mona Eleanor Sands. He grew up in Holliston, Massachusetts.
He proudly served in the United States Army 101st Airborne Division as a Paratrooper, "Screaming Eagles." He was a member of the American Legion Post 347.
His lifetime job was in the manufacturing industry as a mechanic/machinist. Often sought after for his expertise with the machinery and his ability to make his own parts.
His calling was working with his hands. He was always extremely meticulous and precise in anything he did at work and at home.
He was an incredible avid hunter, trapper, and fisherman. He was also very lucky, as he got picked in the Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont Moose Lottery multiple times. Some of his best times were the 12 moose hunts he enjoyed with his wife Heidi and his sons. He was very proud of his immense trophy room. "There will be quite a few animals breathing a sigh of relief now."
He has enjoyed his new home, lifestyle, and activities in The Villages since moving here from Hartford, Maine in June of 2023. He would take longs walks and admire nature and wildlife surrounding the area. He especially loved listening to the music in the squares.
He was a devout Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus earning the honor of Sir Knight. He lived a long and fulfilling life. He and his wife Heidi spent 44 blissful years together, 38 of those being married. They had a very special, unbreakable bond and a love that endured a lifetime, which will continue into eternity.
He is survived by his wife Heidi, sons Bert Jr., (Mary Kate), Troy (Frieda), Stepson Chuck Blais, granddaughter Brianna. Brother Doug (Nancy), Sister Vi (Tom), brother-in-law Bill (Robin), niece Amy, nephew Will and several more nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and his special newly adopted kitties Little Buddy and Tiger.
Service will be at the Florida National Cemetery on April 24, 2025, at 11 am. Arrangements are entrusted with BALDWIN BROTHERS Funeral & Cremation Society-Spanish Springs, 352-430-1449. Sentiments are encouraged at www.baldwincremation.com .
