Bettie was a loving wife, mother and friend. As a young woman, she sang jingles on the radio and it was always a treat to hear her sing at Christmas time. As her family grew, she was able to put her excellent seamstress skills to work. All 8 of her children were always dressed in the latest fashions. Her creation of Easter Parade sailor suits for her children won 1st place in the annual Atlantic City Easter Parade in the 1960's. She and Frank traveled around the country for several years in their lovingly restored Motor Home before retiring to Florida. They were true partners – Bettie with her sewing and upholstery skills and Frank with his master craftsman skills. A gracious hostess, Bettie was able to plan almost any event so that everyone would have a good time. Her Thanksgiving pies were legendary. Whether there were 20 guests or 4, she baked at least one of each – cherry, apple, pumpkin, pecan and shoo-fly. Bettie loved to play cards and always had a deck ready for pinochle, Texas hold'em or cribbage.
Bettie will be honored at a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 22nd from 12-2:00 pm with a memorial service at 2:00 pm at Baldwin Brothers Funeral Home, 1185 West Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in her name.
