It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beverly “Bev” Minton. Bev passed away October 12, 2026 in Fort Myers, Florida. Through her 95 years she meant so much to many, was loved by all and will be dearly missed.
Bev was born March 14, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late John Frank Barcroft and Lorraine M. Geiger Barcroft. From the age of 6, she was raised in the idyllic, rural town of Lawrenceville, Illinois near the Barcroft extended family.
Bev attended Greenville College in Illinois, where she met William (Bill) Minton, her future husband. They married on August 12, 1950 and were blessed with two daughters, Marilyn and Jana.
Raised in the Free Methodist church, she loved the Lord and was a servant to many. Bev and Bill were part of the founding members of the John Wesley Free Methodist Church in Indianapolis where they raised their children. Over the years she worked as the church secretary, the church conference secretary and volunteered for many church and mission events.
Bev took pride in creating a welcoming home and loved hosting others. She enjoyed sewing, baking, crafts, and gardening. Travel was important to her family and they took Marilyn and Jana on many trips around the country. Many good times were spent at the cabin they built at the Clay City church camp. Later in life they were very fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to Europe and enjoyed a special trip to the Holy Land.
After Bill’s retirement they moved back to Lawrenceville to be closer to her mother, Lorraine, during her last years. Later they began spending winters in Fort Myers, Florida to be near their daughter, Jana and family, eventually relocating there permanently.
Preceding her in death are her loving husband, Bill, oldest daughter Marilyn, brother Jack Barcroft and sister Carol Harris.
Bev is survived by her daughter Jana Brewster (Derrick), two grandchildren, Derek Binkley (Jennifer) and Jenelle Madera (Frank), four great grandchildren, Anna, Eva and Sam Binkley and Frankie Madera, her step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
A service will be held at 11am on Saturday November 7 at the Lawrenceville Free Methodist Church, 1006 Maple St., Lawrenceville, Illinois.
