Obituary

Brendan Anthony Smith of Hacienda del Rio, Edgewater FL passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2015 peacefully at his home.

He was born in New Rochelle, NY January 26, 1936. He graduated from Mamaroneck High School in NY. He then served our nation in the US Army in Germany from 1956 to 1958. Following his military duty he attended Davis and Elkins College in WV. He then served as Lieutenant of Detectives in the White Plains NY police Department from 1960 to 1985. During those years he also worked with his brother-in-law, Ray Ericksen, as a painter retiring in 1993. He raised his family in Carmel NY and in 1985 moved to Holden Beach, NC where he served as a police officer.

He was preceded in death by his wife Olive S Alcox Smith, granddaughter Kathleen Fae Haskins, parents Rosemary Thonpson Smith of NYC and James Arthur (Smyth) Smith of Newry, Ireland, sisters Maria Thresa Byrne, Ann Elizabeth Springmeyer, Ellen Monica Ericksen, Margaret Mary Phipps, brothers Alfred Emanuel, James Emmett and Patrick Joseph; nieces and nephews Lori Smith, Raymond Ericksen, James Byrne, Cathy, Brian Ericksen and Patrick "Steve" Smith.

He is survived by his daughter Erin Kathleen Haskins, granddaughter Megan Kathleen Carmichael, son Colin Emmitt Smith and extended family of nieces, nephews and their children. In lieu of memorial donations flowers and condolences can be sent to the family at 190 Rio Grande Edgewater FL 32141.
