Obituary

Brian Griffin Irish, age 83, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2026. He was born on September 14, 1942 in Lewiston, Maine, to Alvin E. Irish and Geraldine E. (Griffin) Irish.

Brian grew up in Auburn, Maine and graduated from Edward Little High School in Lewiston, Maine in 1960 and later graduated from the New England Linotype School in 1961, Boston, Massachusetts.

On September 21, 1963, Brian married the love of his life, Sandra Evelyn D’Amour. Together, they shared 63 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and family.

Brian spent 19 years employed by The Kennebec Journal in Augusta, Maine, where he worked in the newspaper printing industry. He later moved to Palm Coast, Florida, where he started and operated his own lawn care business for 17 years, serving the community with dedication, reliability, and hard work.

Brian will be remembered for the kind of man he was. He possessed a gentle spirit, unwavering faith in God, and a heart that always sought the good in others. He believed in forgiveness, treated people with kindness, and quietly led by example. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, and a hardworking provider who placed his family above all else. His calm presence, humble nature, steadfast character, and genuine compassion touched the lives of all who knew him.

Brian was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Irish and Geraldine Irish, his sister, Daphne Irish Ward and her husband Paul Ward, and his sister-in-law, Dorothy Snyder Irish.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Evelyn Irish; his daughters, Wendy Bettey; Tammy Thompson and her husband, Lionel; and Kimberly Blouin and her husband, Henry. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Blake, Jacob, Camden, Evan, Anthony, Dominic, Benjamin, Whitney, Bronson, and Dalton; many great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Donald Irish and Stephen Irish, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Brian’s wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held. His family will honor his life privately, with arrangements entrusted to Baldwin Brothers, Ormond Beach, Florida, and his ashes will remain with his beloved wife.
