Brian Patrick
Yawn
1965 — Jun 2, 2026
Brian Patrick Yawn, 61, of Port Orange, FL passed away on June 2, 2026.
If you knew Brian, you knew he could always find something good to say, a reason to smile, or a way to make someone else’s day a little better. He believed in looking for the positive in life and, whenever possible, being the positive in someone else’s life.
Born on May 9, 1965, to Jesse and Patricia Yawn, Brian lived a life filled with creativity, laughter, friendship, and service to others. He was the beloved twin brother of Bruce Yawn and a loving brother to Beverly Bommer. Family meant a great deal to Brian, and he treasured the relationships he shared with those he loved.
Brian was an artist at heart. His talent for drawing earned him several awards when he was young, and creativity remained a part of who he was throughout his life. He also loved music and singing, and he enjoyed sharing his gifts with others.
As a Boy Scout, Brian developed a love for the outdoors that stayed with him for the rest of his life. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, and kayaking, and found peace and joy in nature. He was also an accomplished bowler, achieving the rare feat of bowling multiple perfect 300 games. And if the Florida Gators were playing, chances are Brian was cheering them on.
While Brian enjoyed many hobbies and accomplishments, the thing that defined him most was the way he cared about people. Throughout his life, he worked with youth groups, encouraging and mentoring young people. He had a natural ability to make others feel seen, valued, and supported. The same was true in his workplace, where he was respected and loved by many of the people he supervised. Brian never sought recognition for these things; helping others simply came naturally to him.
Brian was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Yawn.
He is survived by his mother, Patricia Yawn; his twin brother, Bruce Yawn, and Bruce’s wife, Angela Kindle-Yawn, along with their daughters, Cara Peters and Willow Brown; his sister, Beverly Bommer; his nephew, Bruce Alexander Yawn, his wife, Danielle Yawn, and their children, Charlotte, Joseph, and Samuel Yawn; his nephew, Jeff Bommer; his nieces, Heather Bommer and Tiffany Bruzdziak; and Tiffany’s children, Jesse Bruzdziak and Amelia Hayes.
Brian’s life was not measured by titles or possessions, but by the countless people whose lives were brighter because he was part of them. His kindness, humor, encouragement, and generous spirit will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A memorial service celebrating Brian's life will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 1839 NE 8th Road, Ocala, Florida. Light refreshments will be served in the Fellowship Hall following the service, and family and friends are invited to stay and share memories of Brian.
The family invites all who knew Brian to join them in celebrating a life marked by kindness, encouragement, and a genuine love for others.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Brian's memory to the American Diabetes Association.
Baldwin Brothers Funeral and Cremation Society is handling arrangements.
