Obituary

Bruce Paul Fisher (100) of Daytona Beach, FL passed away on June 25, 2025. Born on June 8, 1925 in Spring Grove, IN to Marion Hays Fisher and Bessie E. Morris Fisher, Bruce graduated in 1949 with honors earning a bachelor's degree in physics from Miami University (Oxford, OH). He then attended the University of Maryland Graduate School while working at the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington D.C.

Bruce married Barbara Jane Stearns on May 6, 1945.

Bruce served in the US Air Force during World War II being discharged in 1946 as a sergeant in the Weather Service. 1951, he joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent serving in Atlanta, Wilkes-Barre, Philadelphia and progressed to supervisory positions at FBI Headquarters. During the last five years of his FBI career, he served as a Chief of the Communications Section.

Upon retiring from the FBI in 1975, he continued to work for the Department of Justice and later relocated to Florida where he worked as a Private Investigator and also as a Project Director for the Association of Public-Safety Communication Officials.

Bruce was an avid golfer at the Pelican Bay and Indigo country clubs, Daytona Beach, FL. Bruce and wife Barbara enjoyed their family, travel and giving parties. Barbara passed away in April 2008.

Bruce is survived by his daughters Marnie Byrd, Carol Fisher, granddaughters Elizabeth McKercher and Barbara Pasnak (Keving Offutt), and granddaughters Hailey, Heather, and Skylar.

He was predeceased by Barbara, his loving wife of 62 years; brother John M. Fisher (also FBI 1947-1951); son-in-law Dr. Matthew McKercher.
