Buddy "Bud" George
Minter
May 10, 1935 — May 20, 2026
Buddy George Minter “Bud”, 91, of Bunnell, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, surrounded by loved ones at Stewart F. Meyer Hospice House in Palm Coast, Florida.
Born on May 10, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, Bud lived a life marked by dedication, steady strength, and kindness. Bud was a quiet, generous man who showed his love through everything he did for family and friends. He was always helping others – teaching, fixing things, building, and somehow keeping every car running with endless patience, skill and the never-ending supply of old parts he had saved for many years because he might need it someday. He never asked for recognition, but he touched so many lives through his kindness, hard work, and steady presence.
Bud was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. He loved his wife, Geraldine, deeply throughout their 71 years of marriage, and even at the age of 91, he would still hold her hand whenever they sat beside each other. Their love and commitment were an inspiration to all who knew them.
Throughout his life, Bud was known for his strong work ethic, quiet demeanor, sharp sense of humor, and willingness to teach hands-on lessons in mechanics, electrical work, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, roofing, painting and many others too numerous to list. He spent many years as owner of Bud’s Maintenance Service in Florida and previously worked as a high-rise carpenter and home builder in Illinois, where he earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bud found joy in rebuilding antique cars, fixing old things, remodeling homes, building furniture, and loving his pets Munchie, Bella, Missie, and Sweetie. Most of all, he cherished time with his family and created countless memories that will be treasured for generations.
He is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Minter; his son, Ron Minter; his daughter, Christine Minter Haas and her husband, Steve Haas; his grandson, Jason Scherf; and his great-grandson, Jacob Scherf. He was preceded in death by his mother, Loretta Medal; his sister, Betty Williams; his daughter, Pamela Gear; and his great-granddaughter, Cheyanne Noah.
Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that Bud’s legacy lives on through the family he loved, the lives he touched, and the values he instilled in those around him.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday June 27, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. in the private room at Hooligan’s. Family and friends are invited to attend and share memories of a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Flagler Humane Society.
Bud will be deeply missed and forever remembered with love.
