David Powell, age 89, of Plainwell MI, passed away February 17, 2023 peacefully at home with his family by his side. He was born on January 10, 1934 to his parents, Charles and Elsie Powell in Casnovia township. He proudly served his country in the Korean War and received many medals including the purple heart. He was owner operator of his own excavating business and an independent contractor asphalt driver for Reith Riley and Brooks Asphalt. His family and friends will always remember him as a strong man that his family could always depend on.

He is survived by his wife, Janette of 67 years; his children, Julie (Powell) and Steve Langerak, Jodie (Powell) Spoelman, Susan (Powell) Lockhart, Scott and Sheryle Powell; grandkids, Ryan, Tom, Stacia, Allison, Jason, Jeremy, Dale Jr, Tyler, Amber, Cierra, Aubrie, Cassie; 35 great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Precious.

He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Denny, Patricia, Alice, and Michael; grandchildren, Alec Lockhart, Stevie Langerak, Nova Spoelman; and son-in-law, Jeff Spoelman.

A Celebration of Life with military honors will be announced at a later date in Michigan.
