Obituary

Carl Wayne (Jake) McCloskey, 82, of The Villages, FL (formerly of Howard, PA) passed away after a long illness on August 17, 2026. Born on May 19, 1944 in Lock Haven, PA, he was the son of the late Melvin and Helen (Rhodes) McCloskey.

Wayne retired from Penn State University after 35 years of service in the Physical Plant Department. He performed many duties including mowing the Penn State Football field turf for game day.

After moving to The Villages, FL, he was a member of The Villages Penn State Club, enjoyed playing golf, bowling, grilling and dining out with friends. In PA he enjoyed golfing, bowling, fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Janice (Kearns) McCloskey of The Villages, FL. He is also survived by one brother, Les McCloskey of Port Matilda, three sisters, Karen Putorti of Milesburg, Janice Woomer of Howard, Gwen Rupert of State College and one granddaughter, Jamie Harrison and her two children, Lorelei and Declan of Monroeville. Along with his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his son Joey on June 23, 1993.

Wayne desired no public serevice.. The family appreciates your thoughts, prayers and memories during this time.
