Obituary

Carl Frederick Reidway Jr., 84, of The Villages, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 5th, 2026.

Carl was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 4th, 1942 to Carl Frederick Reidway Sr, and Ruth Reidway (nee Curry). He attended James Madison H.S. and John Jay College in Manhattan. He served in the United States Navy and went on to become a NYC police officer for 20 years. After retirement from the police department, he went on to work for many years in security and surveillance.

Carl was preceded in death by his second wife, Patricia Reidway. He is survived by his first wife, Barbara Keith, and their four children together Karen Gaines, Glenn Reidway, Craig Reidway, and Suzanne Fales. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren Amy Gaines McQuade, Sarah Reidway Ludington, Kristen Reidway, Andrew Reidway, Victoria Reidway, Kyle Reidway, Lindsay Fales and Collin Fales. Carl is also survived by his brothers William Reidway and Ronald Reidway and their wives Kathy Reidway and Robin Reidway. He is further survived by his nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones.

Carl loved playing golf and spent many hours out in the golf course over the years. He was a fan of the Brooklyn Dodgers as a child and later an avid NY Yankees fan. In more recent years, Carl enjoyed shooting pool with the local pool league. He also loved to travel, especially on cruise ships with his partner, Rita Jacobs.

Carl’s cremated remains will be interred with military honors at the National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida. A memorial/celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Carl will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
