Carlee E.
McCann
Feb 19, 1944 — Aug 14, 2026
Ocala, Florida
Carlee McCann, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 14, 2026, following a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter, music, and memories that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Born in New Jersey, Carlee spent much of her life in Miami, Florida, where she met the love of her life, Leonard McCann. Together, they shared more than 60 wonderful years of marriage and built a family filled with love. In Miami, they raised their three children, Donna, David, and Daniel. David and Daniel predeceased their mother.
The family later moved to Washington, Pennsylvania, where their family continued to flourish and grow. Carlee's greatest pride and joy was her family, and she adored her grandchildren. She was a kind, generous, loving, and wonderfully funny mother and grandmother, and she will be deeply missed by all of them.
Carlee spent many years working as a children's librarian and retired from the Washington County Citizens Library.
Her love of teaching children to enjoy reading and her appreciation for learning were a natural part of who she was.
After retirement, Carlee and Leonard relocated to Ocala, Florida, where they continued their life together.
Carlee had a curious and adventurous spirit. She loved birdwatching and reading, was an amazing swimmer, and never stopped learning. Later in life, she learned to play both the piano and flute. She loved music of all kinds and especially enjoyed the time she spent playing with the Stone Creek Symphony.
Carlee was intelligent, articulate, and never one to hesitate to speak her mind. She had a quick wit, a vivacious personality, and a wonderful sense of humor. She could be both fiercely independent and deeply tender. She also adored her sweet dog. Dempsey, who brought her endless companionship and joy.
But above all else, Carlee loved her husband, Leonard. After more than 60 years together, their bond remained one of the most beautiful and enduring parts of her life. Despite the ravages of Alzheimer's, Leonard was the one person who would consistently cause her eyes to light up. Their love was steadfast, devoted, and deeply cherished-and it was clear to everyone who knew them how much they meant to one another.
Carlee is survived by her beloved husband, Leonard McCann; her daughter, Donna McCann; her grandchildren, Megan, Lauren, Adam, Alyssa, Aaron, and Asher; her great-granddaughter, Reese; and many other family members and friends whose lives were made richer by knowing her.
Carlee will be remembered for her intelligence, her humor, her curiosity, her love of music and books, her fierce spirit, and most of all, the tremendous love she gave to her family. She will be deeply missed, but the love she shared-and the memories she created-will remain with those who were fortunate enough to know her.
