Carlos Astete left this earthly realm on December 21, 2025, at the age of 85.

Carlos served honorably in the United States Navy Reserve, keeping alive the Astete tradition of military service. He was deeply patriotic and took pride in his military service and in the country he chose to call home. His service reflected a strong sense of duty and appreciation for the opportunities he found in the United States: a land he learned about while in his birth country of Peru, a land of opportunity where everyone could succeed with hard work and grit.

Carlos was raised with limited resources and faced significant challenges early in life. These experiences shaped his independence, resilience, and determination. At the direction and encouragement of his former wife, Zoila, Carlos immigrated to the United States, becoming the first in his family to do so. This courageous decision required perseverance and sacrifice and helped create opportunities for future generations.

Carlos shared children, Josh and Jennifer (Lewis), with Zoila. He also remained close with his former wife, Paula, whom he loved to visit and speak with regularly. Paula was consistently kind, supportive, and caring toward him, and their continued connection meant a great deal to him. Carlos maintained strong and meaningful relationships with his brothers and sisters, with whom he shared lasting bonds throughout his life.

He had a deep love for animals, especially cats and birds. He cared devotedly for his three cats, who were his companions and brought him comfort, and he found peace in watching and appreciating birds.
