Isaiah 40:31 "but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings on eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."

Carmen Murtagh, 85, was promoted to glory on July 18, 2025, peacefully in Ocala, Florida, just one day after celebrating her birthday. Born on July 17, 1940, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Carmen brought joy and warmth into the lives of all who knew her.

Carmen's life was a vibrant tapestry woven with faith, family and community. A devoted follower of Christ, she loved the LORD deeply and found great joy in praise and worship. She attended church faithfully every Sunday alongside her husband, Bill, and encouraged her children to praise God not only in the times of ease but also through life's challenges. Her faith was not just something she practiced – it was something she lived and shared generously.  One of Carmen's most cherished daily rituals was sending Bible verses to a group of friends and family members, especially her grandchildren. This simple act became a powerful expression of her love and spiritual encouragement She also took it upon herself to send birthday cards, anniversary greetings and sympathy notes to members of her church community – always striving to keep people connected and uplifted. Carmen had an unmistakable presence – her laugh was the loudest in any room, her hugs were warm and frequent, and she had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed. Those who knew her often described her as having "a lot of spunk". Whether playing Parcheesi or other board games with family or simply gathering loved ones together for a celebration, Carmen brought energy wherever she went. Being around her felt like being at a party – full of laughter, love, and connection. She was survived by her beloved husband, William "Bill" Joseph Jr with whom she was married 57 years; children William "Bill" Joseph III (Donna), David (Dayna), Dwight, Michelle (Dave) and Maureen; grandchildren William Joseph IV(Jessica), Nicole, Alexander (Bansri), Nicolas (Olivia), Jacob (Alexis), and Sarah and great grandsons Tristan, William Joseph V, Dawson, Benjamin, Finn and Niko.  Carmen will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy lives on in the hearts she touched with kindness, laughter, faith and unwavering love. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew her. We take comfort in knowing she is in the arms of her Savior and LORD Jesus Christ and would want you to know that Jesus loves you.
