Obituary

Carol (Gross) Aronoff, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully at the Ted and Diane Brandley Hospice House on July 4, 2025. She was 95 years old. Carol was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Bernard, with whom she traveled extensively. She will be interred with Bernard at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.

Growing up in Brooklyn, New York, Carol was a devoted older sister and daughter. She inherited her mother's gift for entertaining and her father's talent for math, graduating as co-valedictorian 2 years before the rest of her class at Midwood High School. Throughout her life, Carol was a bookkeeper and community organizer. Along with her keen intelligence, she was known for her warmth and sincerity, her quick and sometimes spicy wit, and her enduring love of British mystery television series, most of which she could recite from memory.

Her other gifts included her eye for collectible porcelain and other decorative items found during her travels, and her flair for real estate. Carol was an early resident of the popular 55+ "On Top of the World" community, where she lived for nearly 20 years. Carol's family history was also of perpetual interest. She shared many loving and amusing stories about family members in Eastern Europe, Brooklyn, and beyond.

Most recently, Carol was a loved member of the community at Brookdale Canopy Oaks assisted living facility in Ocala, where she enjoyed hearing about the lives of her caregivers and other residents. Her family wishes to thank Ana, Marie, Helen, and Emily at Canopy Oaks, and Kim, Susan and other staff at the Ted and Diane Brandley Hospice House for their special care.

Carol will be missed by all her family, including her sister, Joanie Leach, her nephew and nieces, Charles Leach (Leigh Minor), Caroline (Charlie) McCrave, Cynthia (Peter) Evans, and Nancy Leach (Bill Michaud), and her seven great-nieces and great-nephews, Mackenzie Leach, Ellie Mae McCrave, Keegan Leach, Aidan Evans, Talia Michaud, Liam Evans, and Noa Michaud. May her memory be a blessing to all.
