Carol Ann Kaptain of Orlando, FL passed away at the age of 85 on January 11, 2024 at 5:55pm. She was the daughter of Everett P. Miller and Olive B. Emrick Miller of Decatur, IL and was born on June 26, 1938.

She married James E Maxwell in 1956 and together had 3 children, Timothy S. Maxwell, Deborah K. Maxwell and Jonathan P. Maxwell. She was married to Richard Kaptain in 1980 until he passed away December 14, 2022.

Her first job was as an administrative assistant at Caterpillar. Then at Decatur Memorial Hospital, she transcribed medical documents and years later, drove their passenger van to pick up senior citizens for their medical appointments. For several years, she assisted her first husband, James E Maxwell, in managing various golf courses in Clinton, Effingham and Springfield, IL. She also managed Orlando Apartments where her mother, Olive Miller lived.

She leaves behind 2 children, Timothy S Maxwell and Deborah K Siebern, 2 step children, Neal R Kaptain and Jenny A Kaptain; 6 grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren as well as her brother, Steven K. Miller, 8 nieces and nephews and their children.

A memorial for Carol and Richard will be held this Saturday June 29th at 11:00 am at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur, IL.
