Carol Elizabeth Murdock Sanders passed away peacefully on February 27th, 2026. Carol was born in Mooresville, NC to Velma Hartsoe Murdock and John Coit Murdock. She had a wonderful childhood surrounded by a loving family and best friends. She had a long career in the airline industry, first with Eastern Airlines in Charlotte then with Delta Airlines in Florida. Carol met her future husband, Gerald (Jerry), when she was ten years old and fell in love. Nine years later she would become his wife of over fifty years. They retired to Florida where she was surrounded by a large circle of friends and her PHPC church family. Carol had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger. She was a good person and was a delight to be around. To know her was to love her and she will be dearly missed by all.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald “Jerry” Sanders; parents, Velma and “Jack” Murdock; sisters, Katherine Murdock Brawley, Betty Jean Murdock, and Rachel Murdock Martin; brothers, Larry Allen Murdock and Jack Milton Murdock; and her four legged son, Bradley. She leaves behind a daughter, Susan; two sons, Steven Sanders and Andrew Sanders (Karen); along with six beautiful and beloved grandchildren, Mallory and Nolan Sanders (Steven), Lily, Alejandro, Catalina and Scarlett Sanders (Andrew/Karen); along with an extended family of loved ones.
