Carol Ellen Schuett (Mumm) passed away suddenly and quickly from a heart attack as her huge and caring heart finally took a rest on July 27, 2021 at home in Port Orange, Florida. God must have needed a new, young card player for His '500' games when he called her up to be His partner. She was 75 years old.

Carol was born on February 7, 1946 in Austin, Minnesota to her parents Holger and Evelyn Mumm and grew up on their family farm (although you'd never guess she grew up "off the land" if you knew about her talent for bringing all plants, gardens, and flowers to very rapid endings) in Rose Creek (pronounced Crick by anybody with half a brain). After meeting Gary Schuett on a camping trip (he was with his parents, she was with a friend) in the summer of 1963, the two dated for two months, (apparently swept off her feet by Gary's charm…or maybe a need to leave the Crick) were engaged, and married on August 1, 1964 in Austin, MN. The two were HOT — literally! — it was 104 degrees on their wedding day with her in a beautiful traditional white wedding gown and Gary in his best wool suit!

Gary and Carol welcomed Kimberly Ellen Schuett (Rylicki) into their lives in 1970 and Jason Gary Schuett into their lives in 1978. The family lived in and around Minneapolis until they moved to Florida (Orlando, then Port Orange) in 2001. Carol worked most of her adult life – including more than 15 years at Northwest Airlines and 10 years at SunTrust Bank. However, she did take some "time off" when the kids were little, and in addition to hollering at Kimberly and trying to chase down Jason, she found a decent amount of time to connect with her dear neighbors and friends – that telephone cord stretched to every corner of their first floor as she simultaneously kept up with friends while keeping up at home. She was an incredible seamstress and loved to cook — especially if it was with wine, or if it meant entertaining! Chardonnay anyone?

Anybody who knew Carol knew her loves — family, friends, and fun times. Her husband, kids, and grandkids were the lights of her life and she would (and did!) do anything for them and extended family and friends. Earlier in life, Carol and Gary traveled extensively with family (thanks for the travel perks Northwest!), especially Carol's sister Jan and her family (Grady & kids). Colorado, the 1982 World's Fair, Niagara Falls, and Northern MN to name a few of their fun trips. Later in life, Carol went "all in" on her "Grandma Role" – she and Gary were great babysitters (in Florida or Chicago!), then tour guides (they enjoyed taking grandkids on their "Just turned 10 Grandma and Grandpa Trips"), and even "BFF's" as they developed texting and FaceTime relationships with their older grandkids! Annoyingly proud of their grandkids? Probably…and loved it!

When Gary and Carol weren't with Kimberly (Derek) and Jason (Sarah) and their kids or extended family, they were often surrounded by friends! Carol knew how to have a good time (Gary, eh not as much =))…and care deeply! "The old neighborhood" crew and parties, the Socialites, the Women of Wings (WOW!), the ladies at the tree, the ladies at the pool…you get the idea! Anything that involved cards or dinner or wine or "Brandy 7" or talking…again, you get the idea! Those signs reminding us all to Live, Laugh, and Love had to have been created by someone who experienced Carol and her life!

Carol is survived by her husband, Gary Schuett in Port Orange, Florida; daughter, Kimberly Rylicki (Derek) of Glenview, Illinois; and son, Jason Schuett (Sarah) of Deltona, Florida; five grandchildren, Brandon Rylicki, Samantha Rylicki, Corsten Rylicki, Kristina Rylicki, and Cooper Schuett as well as several foster grandchildren; sister Jan Stephens (Grady) of Fort Myers, Florida; and many nieces, nephews and their children and extended family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Holger and Evelyn Mumm (Ehlert). Carol's family will hold a private celebration of her life as well as private disbursement of her ashes at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Carol's family requests donations to C127 in Altamonte Springs, Florida in her memory.
