IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carol
Snell
April 26, 1936 – March 31, 2025
Carol Joan Snell (88) originally from Lockport, New York, passed away at the home of her beloved brother, Joseph, on March 31, 2025, in Mount Dora, Florida following a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Carol was born on June 26, 1936, to Robert and Shirley (Sliker) Wynes in Niagara Falls, New York. She grew up and attended school in nearby Lockport where her father operated a fuel oil business and gas station "Wynes Petroleum Service".
After graduating high school, Carol attended Denison University in Ohio and the State University of New York at Buffalo where she graduated in 1958 with a degree in elementary education. She married Robert H. (Buck) Snell that same year and began a long career as an elementary school teacher both in Lockport, New York and later in New Ipswich, New Hampshire. Her husband Robert preceded her in death on May 26, 2020, after 63 years of marriage.
Carol loved all children and, despite not having children of her own, was dedicated to the young pupils she taught as well as her nieces and nephews.
Throughout their marriage, Carol and Robert regularly attended worship at various churches, the most recent one being Our Savior Lutheran Church in Vero Beach, Florida. The couple relocated from New Hampshire to Sebastian, Florida in 2000 so that they could be near Carol's widowed mother, Shirley.
Carol and Robert were actively involved in Shriners International and donated extensively to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
Besides her parents and husband, Carol was predeceased by her sisters Mary Ellen and Constance Susan (Thompson) and brother Thomas. Her brothers Joseph, Donald (Margaret) and Robert (Judy) survive her as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private remembrance service to be attended by family and friends in Niagara Falls is being planned for a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association in Carol's name is appreciated
