Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Carol (Callahan) (Stryker) Williamson announces her passing on July 14, 2023 at the age of 82.

Carol was born on November 20, 1940 in Trenton, NJ to Sarah Joiner Callahan and Walter Frances Callahan. She was their only child. She graduated with honors from Hamilton High West in 1958 and began working as a secretary at Delaval Steam Turbine Company. It was there that she met her first husband, Norman Richard Stryker, the father of her three beloved daughters. Carol lived for many years in Hamilton, NJ before relocating to Monroe, NC, then Slidell, LA, and finally Orlando, Florida.

Carol possessed many talents which she shared with her family, friends, and community. She was an accomplished seamstress who, as a young mother, sewed beautiful costumes for a local dance studio in exchange for dance lessons for her girls. She also sang in her church choir for several years and enjoyed cooking and baking. In her later years, she developed a love for ceramics, creating beautiful pieces for friends and family members.

Carol worked as an executive secretary for various companies over the years. However, it was her role as mother and grandmother that she cherished most. She was happiest when all of her children and grandchildren were with her. Even as her health deteriorated over the years, the birth of each of her great grandchildren brought her tremendous joy. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.

Carol was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Sarah Callahan, and her second husband, Joseph Warren Williamson.

She is survived by her three daughters, Janice (Peter) Stern of Orlando, FL; Joanne (Mike) Spencer of Greensboro, NC; and Jill (John) DeSalva of Redding, CT, her nine grandchildren, Anthony (Julia) DeSalva; Daniel (Emily) DeSalva; Christopher Spencer; Sean Spencer; Carol (Roger) Palanzo; Sarah (Dustin Tracy) Stern; Courtney (Samuel) McCool; Emily Stern; and Kelly Spencer, and six great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Carol's honor to the Alzheimer's Association.
