IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carole Ann
(Green) Richards
January 28, 1943 – April 24, 2025
Carole Ann (Green) Richards , 82, of Palm Coast, Florida, formerly of Quaker Hill, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 24, 2025, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on January 28, 1943, in New London, Connecticut, the daughter of Edward T. Green and Ann (Plikus) Green.
Carole was a graduate of Waterford High School, where she proudly twirled baton. She married the love of her life, Raymond H. Richards, on February 20, 1965, in New London. Over the years, she worked for General Dynamics, the State of Connecticut, the Bureau of Business Practice (BBP), and the Connecticut Humane Society. Carole was a member of the Montville Polish Club. Once retired, she and Ray enjoyed travelling the East Coast in their RV with friends and family until his passing. One of the annual highlights of her life was camping out at the Woodstock Fair with numerous family and friends for too many years to count and later in life enjoying the beaches of St. Maarten.
A devoted animal lover, Carole especially adored horses and spent many years as a "horse show" mom for her daughter, Denise. She also coached softball for many years. Carole was an enthusiastic sports fan—cheering on UConn basketball, the New York Yankees, and her beloved Miami Dolphins (though she later softened her loyalty for Denver and Indianapolis—thanks to their horse mascots). She had a deep love for her Rottweilers: Saba, Sammy, Buddy, Bella, Brandy, and Annie.
Carole was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband, Raymond. She is survived by her daughter, Denise (Richards) McNichol, her husband James; her grandson, Peyton; her brother, Ed Green, and his wife, Gail; and her cousin Ann Avery (and husband Ken), who was more like a sister than a cousin—when those two got together, you never knew what to expect! She is also survived by family cousin Arthur Vescovi of Palm Coast, Florida, with whom she made her home for the last 14 years and who cared for her until her passing. Carole will be deeply missed by her dear friends John & Kirby Hallissey Daphne Ely, Doreen Flynn, and all her many friends in both Palm Coast and Connecticut.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society , 169 Old Colchester Road, Quaker Hill, CT 06375, or to your local animal shelter of choice. Services will be private at a later date.
