Obituary

Carolyn E. Corbe, of Ponce Inlet, Florida, and formerly of Edgewater, Maryland, passed away on April 23, 2024. She was born in Miami, Florida on July 26, 1942 to the late Charles and Margurite Woolley. Mr. Woolley subsequently married the late Clara Clay. Carolyn grew up in New Smyrna Beach and attended Faulkner Elementary School, St. Paul's Catholic Grade School and St Paul's High School in Daytona Beach. She graduated from Father Lopez HS. She married her high school sweetheart, Thomas Corbe, and they were married 61years. Carolyn loved reading, gardening, and spending time with her extended family at the beach. She taught her children and grandchildren to swim and ride waves in the ocean.

Carolyn graduated from Mary Karl Vocational School as a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked at Halifax and Alachua General Hospitals. As a Marine Corp wife, Carolyn was determined to stay home with her children and give them a very good family life. She was a wonderful wife and mother and took great pride in caring for her family. She loved the song We Are Family, and was very proud that in our family everyone respects and cares for each other.

When she returned to the workforce, she was employed with the District Court of Maryland and then the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). She retired from USDA's International Services after a successful career, starting as a clerk typist and advancing in the professional series as a budget analyst. She traveled to Europe and South America for her job.

She is survived by her husband Thomas and their four children Mary (Brian) Tarr, Dorothy (Jimmy) Wayson, Carolyn Marie (Michael Murray) Corbe and Joseph (Emily) Corbe.

She is also survived by her three loving sisters Patricia Parrish, Jean Marchetti, and Alice Clay Benedict. She will be especially missed by her thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Carolyn died of Alzheimer's and all her children, grandchildren and sisters were so helpful to her when she really needed help. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Halifax Health Hospice, Port Orange, Florida. A Memorial Mass was held at Sacred Heart Church, NSB and family interment will be in the Edgewater New Smyrna Beach Cemetery
